“A day like today is even more stressful than a sprint because we can mess up everything being out of the time cut. I could have condemned my whole team if I didn't make it. Every time we heard “attaque de Valverde” through the radio, we knew that we'd had to speed up even more. It was terrible. The last climb was very steep and very hard for someone whose weight is 80kg. But they were all useful efforts. The green jersey and the necessary hard work before the Tour de France were my motivation factors today.”

Jakob Fuglsang of Astana became the first Dane to win the overall classification of the Critérium du Dauphiné as he dethroned race leader Richie Porte throughout the ten seconds bonus awarded to the winner of the conclusive stage. This is the third time in the past four editions that there is a change of leadership on the last day. It's been a thrilling finale again!
“I can't have any regret. It's been a nice race and I really tried… I had cramps. I'm totally dehydrated. I haven't had great feelings today. Richie Porte has been very strong all week and Fuglsang very impressive today. But I'm not so far behind. I've got more work to do. I have to stay focused on my training from now on.”
