“It was really hard at the end. I just followed the wheels but it was going too fast for me in the end. I gave it all until the finish and it was enough to keep the jersey. Louis Meintjes was the only threat for the white jersey in this group. I couldn't hold his pace towards the end but that was close to the finish. It's a great honor for me to be the best young rider at the Dauphiné against such big rivals. It's something really nice before going to the Tour. Normally at the Tour I won't target the white jersey but I'll be racing for Rafal Majka.”

Jakob Fuglsang of Astana became the first Dane to win the overall classification of the Critérium du Dauphiné as he dethroned race leader Richie Porte throughout the ten seconds bonus awarded to the winner of the conclusive stage. This is the third time in the past four editions that there is a change of leadership on the last day. It's been a thrilling finale again!
“I can't have any regret. It's been a nice race and I really tried… I had cramps. I'm totally dehydrated. I haven't had great feelings today. Richie Porte has been very strong all week and Fuglsang very impressive today. But I'm not so far behind. I've got more work to do. I have to stay focused on my training from now on.”
