Michal Kwiatkowski: “We have some cards to play”

June 3 rd 2018 - 15:14

“After fourty days without racing, it’s a bit of a surprise to win here today although I knew that I came with a good shape. I prepared for the Dauphiné and the Tour very well. You always have to think of the win when you start a bike race. It was a really nice course, a little bit technical. I wanted to do well and find out where I’m at after I built my shape in a more than two weeks long altitude training camp in Tenerife. It’s maybe my last win as Polish national champion with the eagle on my chest but I’ll try defend my title in a few weeks. The yellow-blue jersey is a nice present for my birthday that was yesterday but I have no pressure for keeping it. We also have Gianni Moscon in the top 3 today. Geraint Thomas did well despite crashing, so we have some cards to play. We can fight for winning this race overall at the same time as seeing how the shape is for the Tour. I’m looking forward to race hard in the mountains. It’s gonna be different in the second half of the Dauphiné because of the difficult transition from the Spring classics campaign to the mountains.”
