Moûtiers is the historical, administrative, economic, gastronomic and cultural capital of the Tarentaise Valley, as well as the world leader in Alpine skiing and a focal point for summer tourism thanks to the mountains, La Vanoise National Park and the quaint villages in the area. The town also aims to become a cycling hub thanks to its landscapes, which are ideal for cycling with family, for amateurs and for veteran athletes.
Together with the Cœur de Tarentaise federation of municipalities and its Tourist Office, it works to promote an area packed with diversity and open-air activities from 300 to 3,000 masl. Moûtiers, which is connected to the major mountain passes in Savoy (La Madeleine, Iseran, Cormet de Roselend, etc.) and legendary ascents to ski resorts (Courchevel, Méribel, Val Thorens, Valmorel, La Plagne, etc.), was awarded the "Accueil vélo" label in 2016. It works to improve safety for cyclosportive events and has hosted the start or finish of several prestigious races since 2015.
Whatever the season, its intermodal station makes Moûtiers the ideal holiday site and base camp for mountain lovers.
